Co-Director, Music Director, Choreographer needed for two After School Elementary School Spring Musicals

The department of Outreach at the Beverly Arts Center, located at 2407 W 111th Street, Chicago, IL 60655, has two immediate openings for a Co-Director for a Musical Theatre production at two seperate elementary schools on the south side of Chicago.

Co-Director/Choreographer:

This school will be producing a MTI Junior musical the first week of May 2019. Rehearsals begin in February 2019 and will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and every other Thursday from 2:30pm-4:30pm, working with K-8th grades. This position will also serve as the Choreographer for the show and will work with another Co-Director who will also serve as the Musical Director. This position requires some technical work coordinating with the Director of Outreach for the Beverly Arts Center and a team of volunteers from the school to organize costumes, and assist in obtaining or creating set and props for the production. Pay is $25 per hour, plus $12.50 prep per day with some additional prep hours to cover technical work on the production. This production will be produced at a private catholic school and will require VIRTUS training.

Rehearsals begin in February 2019 and will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 3:00pm-4:00pm, working with K-8th grades. This position will also serve as the Music Director for the show and will work with another Co-Director who will also serve as the Choreographer. This position requires some technical work coordinating with the Director of Outreach for the Beverly Arts Center and a team of volunteers from the school to organize costumes, and assist in obtaining or creating set and props for the production. Pay is $28 per hour, plus $12.50 prep per day with some additional prep hours to cover technical work on the production.

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

- College-degree preferred. 

- Significant experience directing, music directing, and/or choreographing musicals with K-8th graders.

- Ability to maintain a schedule and meet deadlines.

- Stong communication and organizational skills required.

- Teaching Artists must arrive on-time at schools and should have reliable transportation.

- Must be able to pass finger-printing and background check.
