archi-treasures is an arts-based community development organization that creates grassroots partnerships to improve Chicago neighborhoods through the arts and cultural placemaking. archi-treasures works with affordable housing sites and community groups to develop public art and space improvement projects, and offer on-site arts and cultural programming for neighborhood residents. 

Responsibilities:

archi-treasures is seeking visual, design, theatre, and/ or music Teaching Artists to run week-long workshops for a Summer Arts Camp for youth ages 8-13. The program will take place on-site at the Barbara Jean Wright Apartments, an affordable housing development located at 1354 S. Morgan, Mon-Thur, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Teaching artists will run daily workshop sessions that provide youth participants hands-on arts-making experiences and an opportunity for creative expression. Daily arts activities should culminate in the completion / presentation of individual and/ or group projects at the end of the week. Selected Teaching Artists will be asked to complete a 4 day curriculum with daily lesson plans and collaborate with on-site program assistants to implement. All necessary supplies and materials will be provided by archi-treasures.

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

1.     Ability to develop structured, project-based arts learning activities for 8-13 year old youth.

2.     High energy individual, excited to share fun, creative arts collaboration with youth participants.

3.     At least 1-3 years of experience working in community-based arts setting with youth.

4.     Experience and willingness to work with youth of varying arts knowledge and skill levels.

5.     Should possess strong communication and leadership skills, and be adept at managing youth in group art projects.

6.     Must be available for a full week program, equivalent to 16 hours of instruction, 4 hrs/ day, Mon-Thur.

 

Pay rate:  $750-1,000/ week

Dates: July 23-August 16, 2018
